The app on their own phone
If your child has their own phone, they can have GrassrootsManager on it - seeing just their own football, nothing else. You set it up from your phone in under a minute, and you can take it away again any time.
There's no email address, no password and nothing for your child to sign up to. You show a code on your phone, they scan it with theirs, and that's it: their matches, match stories and achievements live where they do. You stay in control from your own app.
Set it up from your phone
-
1
Start from your child's page
Open your child in the app. If they don't have the app on a phone yet you'll see "Does your child have their own phone?" on their home page - tap Set up their app. (It's also in Settings whenever you need it.)
-
2
Read what they will and won't see
Before any code appears, we show you exactly what your child's view contains: their fixtures, their match stories, their achievements and their teams - and nothing else. No contact details, no medical information, no payments. Tap Agree and show code when you're happy.
-
3
Show the code, they scan it
A square code appears on your screen. On your child's phone, open GrassrootsManager, tap "I'm a player" and point the camera at your screen. Codes only last a minute, and each one works exactly once - if it runs out, a fresh one appears automatically.
-
4
You'll know the moment it works
Your phone chimes and shows "That's it" the instant their phone connects. Every parent of your child also gets a notification that a phone was set up - so if anyone else ever pairs a device, you'll know.
-
5
Take it away any time
On your child's page you'll find their phone listed under "their app". Remove it and their phone signs out immediately - nothing lingers. If they get a new phone, or the app stops working after a long break, just show them a fresh code. That's always the fix.
